Addiction Treatment - Suboxone-Initial Evaluation

Addiction Treatment - Suboxone-Initial Evaluation

Our Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for opioid addiction includes the use of Suboxone to help individuals overcome addiction.

Our compassionate team of healthcare providers and therapists work together to provide comprehensive care, including Telehealth consultations, counseling, and ongoing support, ensuring the best possible outcomes for recovery.

The Role of Suboxone in MAT

Suboxone is a prescription medication that contains two active ingredients: buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist, meaning it activates the same receptors in the brain as opioids but to a lesser extent. This helps to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings without producing the euphoria associated with opioid use.

Naloxone, on the other hand, is an opioid antagonist. It blocks the effects of opioids on the brain, reducing the risk of misuse and overdose. When taken as prescribed, Suboxone effectively suppresses withdrawal symptoms and cravings, helping individuals remain in treatment and focus on their recovery.

Advantages of Suboxone in MAT

Reduced Withdrawal Symptoms and Cravings

Suboxone's unique combination of buprenorphine and naloxone effectively reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings associated with opioid addiction. This allows individuals to focus on their recovery journey without the constant struggle of managing these debilitating symptoms.

Lower Risk of Misuse and Overdose

Suboxone's formulation makes it less likely to be misused or result in an overdose compared to other opioid medications. The inclusion of naloxone ensures that if someone attempts to misuse Suboxone by injecting it, they will experience withdrawal symptoms, discouraging misuse.

Improved Treatment Retention

Individuals who use Suboxone as part of their MAT are more likely to remain in treatment and achieve long-term recovery compared to those who do not receive medication. This increased retention is crucial for individuals who may need ongoing support and counseling to overcome their addiction.
